About the Job

Prep Cooks at The Fire Society are responsible for the production of food for all TFS events, adhering to the highest possible standards of food and personal safety, efficiency, organization, product quality and culinary integrity. While our food adheres to strict quality standards and event-specific formats, prep cooks are expected to utilize their culinary experience and expertise to thoughtfully craft the best possible product within the guidelines set by supervisors.

 

Responsibilities 

Including but not limited to… 

 

  • Set up the kitchen during opening and break down during closing according to TFS standard policies and procedures. Follow daily directions to complete the assigned prep list efficiently, preparing the appropriate amount of food based on chef instructions while minimizing waste.
  • Use effective time management skills to ensure that tasks are being completed most efficiently and effectively.
  • Clearly label all food in appropriate vessels with dates, names, and event allocation, and ensure it is routed to the correct location.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly sanitized food preparation station, ensuring kitchen equipment and tools are in good working condition.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of food and kitchen safety.
  • Report to shifts on time and in the proper dress code, ready to work.
  • Food preparation includes, but is not limited to, cutting, dicing, and mincing a variety of fruits and vegetables, butchering meats (primarily pork, chicken, and beef), and marinating, seasoning, and dressing food while assisting with basic cooking tasks.
  • Perform thorough breakdown and cleaning duties at the end of each shift, including sanitizing workstations, properly storing ingredients, disposing of trash, and ensuring all kitchen areas are left clean and organized.

 

Required Qualities

  • Working knowledge of the company, its history, its brands and philosophy.
  •  Exceptional culinary skills including a well-developed palate and knowledge of diverse cuisines.
  • Must possess a work style based on accountability and honesty, interest, and team work.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and acute attention to detail.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Must be an adaptable, flexible team player with an outstanding attitude and an understanding of the big picture.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work on feet for up to 8 hours or more.
  • Must be enthusiastic, friendly, and well-groomed with a professional appearance.
