Position Summary
The Post Room Server is an ambassador of the hotel’s refined dining experience. This role delivers elevated, anticipatory service in a luxury, fine-dining setting, guiding guests seamlessly from arrival through departure. The Server is responsible for gracious hospitality, expert menu and beverage presentation, precise order execution, thoughtful course pacing, and discreet payment handling, all in accordance with Beacon Grand service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide polished, intuitive, and personalized service that reflects the standards of the Beacon Grand.
- Warmly greet and, when appropriate, seat guests; build rapport through genuine hospitality and confident product knowledge
- Present menus with poise; describe daily features, tasting menus, chef’s recommendations, and seasonal offerings with accuracy and enthusiasm
- Offer informed guidance on wine, cocktails, and beverage pairings; thoughtfully suggest enhancements in alignment with guest preferences
- Accurately enter and manage orders in the POS; coordinate closely with culinary and bar teams to ensure optimal course timing and pacing
- Perform tableside service (e.g., wine presentation, carving, finishing, or specialty preparations) as required by the menu and service style
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, sourcing, preparation methods, and potential allergens; clearly communicate special requests and dietary needs to the culinary team
- Continuously monitor the dining experience; anticipate needs, address concerns promptly, and execute service recovery in a composed, professional manner
- Execute opening, shift, and closing responsibilities, including station setup, side work, polishing glassware and flatware, and maintaining overall cleanliness and readiness
- Ensure accuracy of guest checks; process payments and handle cash/charge transactions in accordance with hotel policies and audit standards
- Maintain impeccable table settings, service stations, and overall floor presentation consistent with a luxury dining environment
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines (local regulations, HACCP, ServSafe standards)
- Support private dining, special events, and in-room dining coordination as needed, ensuring a seamless extension of restaurant service standards
- Uphold hotel and brand expectations for appearance, uniform, grooming, and professional conduct at all times
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a fine-dining restaurant or luxury hotel dining room required
- Demonstrated knowledge of culinary techniques, high-quality ingredients, and seasonal or tasting-style menus
- Strong wine, spirits, and cocktail knowledge, including classic preparations and basic food-and-beverage pairing principles
- Exceptional communication skills, professional presence, and refined guest-service and recovery abilities
- Proficiency with POS systems; comfortable managing multi-course service and pacing for multiple tables
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain grace and efficiency under pressure
- Collaborative, team-focused approach with a genuine commitment to service excellence
- Preferred certifications: ServSafe Food Handler/Manager, TIPS or Responsible Beverage Service, WSET or Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1+
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25–30 lbs and safely transport trays, glassware, and equipment
- Frequent bending, reaching, and moving in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment
